Southminster School was founded in 1990 by Southminster Presbyterian Church as the Early Learning Center. Our preschool program now educates over 100 children from 18 months of age to four years old. Our dedicated teaching staff is well-versed in child development strategies and protocol and must obtain 15 hours of training prior to the beginning of the school year. The safety of our students is a top priority. All school staff, substitutes, and extended care providers are background checked and fingerprinted. Each teacher must maintain CPR/First Aid and AED certification through the American Red Cross.

Preschool classes are held from 9AM-2PM with extended care available beginning at 7AM and until 6PM. Our program seizes upon a child's natural curiosity and interests to build a strong educational foundation in a fun, positive, age-appropriate, Christian environment. The students are provided with opportunities for multi-sensory enrichment that address different abilities and learning styles. Low student to teacher ratios, which are below the expected State of Texas requirements, ensure a safe and nurturing environment. In addition to classroom activities, children also attend Music and Movement classes daily, and Chapel on Tuesday-Friday. Enriching theme-based days are built into each month to subsidise curriculum. Such days include Rodeo Day, Winter Fest, and Splash Day.
